OSHA defines confined spaces as those that (1) have limited openings for entry or exit, (2) are large enough for entering and working, and (3) are not designed for continuous worker occupancy. Examples are tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers vaults, pits, manholes, pipes, and tunnels, among others.
