Pesticide General Permit Reissued

The EPA has reissued its Pesticide General Permit (PGP) for point source discharges of pesticides to waters of the United States. Authorized under the Clean Water Act’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, the PGP was first issued in 2011 and was effective for a 5-year period.

According to the Agency, the 2016 PGP largely repeats verbatim the terms and conditions of the 2011 PGP. The 2016 PGP was effective October 31, 2016, the date the 2011 permit expired. However, to allow time to read the new permit, those covered by the 2011 PGP have until January 2, 2017, to submit their Notices of Intent (NOI) to be covered by the 2016 PGP to ensure that coverage is uninterrupted. Coverage under the 2011 PGP ends on January 12, 2017.
