Day One: Wednesday, March 23
Opening Keynote | Evaluating Your Emergency Response Options: Is 911 Enough?
Time: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM EDT
Presented by: Drew Hinton, CSP, CHMM, EMT, President/CEO, Arrow Safety, LLC
If there’s a foreseeable emergency in your workplace, OSHA requires you to plan for it. But how well do you actually plan for each type of emergency situation? In this session, we will discuss how to properly evaluate your local fire department’s response capabilities, as well as how it ties into applicable OSHA and ANSI standards. We tell ourselves that we should plan for the worst and hope for the best, but are we really doing that?
During this session, we will discuss the following key topics:
- Various types of workplace emergencies that you may encounter,
- How to evaluate your local fire department’s capabilities,
- Applicable OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA standards, and
- The importance of continuous improvement in regard to emergency preparedness.

Industry Update | QR Codes: Simplify Your EHS Reporting
Time: 12:30 PM – 12:45 PM EDT
Sponsored by Dakota Software
Presented by: Robert Kimball, Director of Product Marketing, Dakota Software
Organizations with strong safety cultures rely on good communication between frontline workers and safety leaders to identify and take action on safety issues. Unfortunately, there are often obstacles that keep observations, near misses, and even injuries from ever being reported. This under-reporting can cause “blind spots” in workplace safety programs and open the door to serious incidents and injuries.
The use of QR codes can greatly simplify EHS issue reporting, improving the quantity and quality of data, and establishing a feedback loop that enables continuous improvements. To initiate reports, personnel simply need to scan the QR codes using their mobile phone or tablet. The more safety information that is collected, the more insights safety leaders have into areas of concern and overall EHS performance.
During this session we will discuss:
- Establishing a process and system for safety data capture.
- Creating and posting QR codes strategically and with clear intent.
- Engaging staff to overcome areas of reporting resistance.
- The benefits of software systems for real-time collaboration, data trending and analysis, and simplifying OSHA reporting.

Fireside Chat | Safety Is the #1 Priority … Baloney!
Time: 12:45 PM – 1:15 PM EDT
Sponsored by Evotix
Presented by: Matthew Elson, CEO, and Langdon Dement, Global EHS Specialist, Evotix
How often do you hear business talk about safety being their #1 priority? Do you believe this? We don’t! The statement is a cliché—of course it sounds right: what is not to like about prioritizing safety? But, in reality, business is about serving a purpose, creating value, “being in business”! The #1 priority is not safety but safe operations.
Every person has a right to work in a safe and fulfilling environment. But, all too often, safety is treated as a cost, a burden to be managed. At Evotix, we take a different view: managing safety is a value adding activity intrinsic to great operational performance. “Show me a business with good safety management but poor operational performance.”
In this session, presenters will:
- Cover fundamentals of good operational management
- Explore how safety is a key part of your operations ecosystem
- Consider how employee engagement drives quality and consistency
- Discuss how doing safety enhances the overall business and delivers profit

Educational Session | Simplifying Environmental, Health, and Safety Processes with Cutting-Edge AI
Time: 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM EDT
Sponsored by ehsAI
Presented by: Marcel Guevara, Vice President EHS, ehsAI; Mahdi Ramezani,
Chief Technical Officer, ehsAI; and Linsey DeBell, Directing Consultant, ALL4
Industries are being transformed at breakneck speed, as new technologies dramatically alter the way its key players operate. Look no further than the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) industry for proof. One innovative application in particular that is making deep inroads is Natural Language Processing (NLP), and it’s one that every EHS professional should be following closely.
NLP is a sub-discipline of artificial intelligence (AI), and it’s doing amazing things—namely, allowing computers to carry out specific tasks just as a human would. Thanks to NLP, computers are able to, among other functions, recognize entities and then categorize and summarize them. And they do this with no human bias involved, in a fraction of the time.
This capability makes NLP a natural fit for working with regulatory documents, such as laws, regulations, permits, licenses, and others. Data sitting within them that is needed to meet regulatory requirements can be extracted in seconds, rather than hours or days, as has been the historical norm.
NLP can also optimize conformance with management systems by applying it to standards, procedures, and plans. The results are a reduction in time and cost and an increase in accuracy. EHS software can be set up much more easily, and helpful compliance checklists and calendars can be developed in no time. The task of working with EHS-related public information also becomes much less burdensome with NLP, helping firms meet their increasing reporting requirements around corporate responsibility and ESG.
In this webinar, we will examine NLP in depth and show how it is revolutionizing EHS reporting processes in countless industries, such as energy, resources, and more. In addition, one of our partners that has adopted the ehsAI platform will discuss how they have leveraged the power of NLP and the game-changing impact it has had on their processes and overall organization.

Fireside Chat | Implementing Sustainability Throughout the Entire Supply Chain
Time: 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM EDT
Sponsored by Avetta
Presented by: Danny Shields, Quality, Health, Safety, Sustainability Professional, Avetta
While companies recognize the importance of achieving sustainable outcomes, they don’t realize most of that impact is in their supply chain. A recent survey of companies by Avetta found that while 79% and 63% of companies believe employee health and safety and reducing environmental footprint are “very important,” respectively, only 39% of respondents feel sustainability supply chain issues are “very important.”
The more intricate a supply chain is, the more prone an organization is to uncertainties and hidden risks. A majority of sustainability concerns and red flags stem from the supply chain. The average supply chain generates emissions that are 5.5 times greater than operational emissions. Supply chains are responsible for more than 3/4 of greenhouse gas emissions for several industry sectors. Supply chains are also responsible for over 90% of natural capital impact.
Join us as our speaker discusses how companies accomplish the following to improve sustainability compliance in the supply chain:
- Set clear supply chain sustainability targets to report progress,
- Implement ESG supply chain requirements through formal contracts,
- Establish adequate governance structures,
- Create incentives to improve supply chain performance,
- Assess, manage, and monitor supply chain risks,
- Enhance supply chain traceability and transparency,
- Engage with suppliers,
- And more!
