How to Prepare for and Manage OSHA Inspections

OSHA can show up at virtually any moment, and employers in most cases will not receive advance notice of the visit. Knowing what happens during an OSHA inspection and what to do during one can ensure things run smoothly for both employers and employees.
OSHA recently increased its penalties, so being prepared for an OSHA inspection—and knowing how to contest a violation—is more important than ever. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:
- Understand what triggers an OSHA inspection and prepare for the different types of inspections your facility could face
- Effectively manage the beginning steps prior to the inspection
- Handle inspector requests for documents such as audits, training records, accident reports, and near-miss reports efficiently
- Navigate closing conference, follow-up requests, and informal settlement discussions
- Appropriately manage employee interviews
- Document what the inspector documents through the use of notes, photographs and videos
