On episode 116 of EHS On Tap, Christine Sullivan, the new president of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), talks about the current state of workplace safety and what she hopes to accomplish in the next year. Recorded recently at the ASSP’s Safety 2022 conference in Chicago.
Christine M. Sullivan, CSP, ARM, became senior vice president on ASSP’s Board of Directors on July 1, 2020, after concluding two terms as vice president, finance. She is senior vice president and risk control director at Sompo International, working with mid-sized and global companies.
Sullivan has nearly 30 years of safety and health experience and has been an ASSP member since 1996. Her Society honors include the Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, the Risk Management and Insurance Practice Specialty Safety Professional of the Year Award, and the Council on Practices and Standards Safety Professional of the Year Award. She will be the Society’s president-elect in 2021-22 and president in 2022-23.
Sullivan is a past vice president of the Council on Professional Development, past chair of the Professional Development Conference Planning Committee and member of ASSP’s 100th Anniversary Task Force in 2011. She has also served as president of the Colorado Chapter.
