Natural Disasters

Severe weather emergencies and other natural disasters can strike any workplace or home, often without warning. In the United States alone, there are an average of 15 weather and climate disasters each year. If you’re not adequately prepared to respond to such events, the potential for injuries and even death is heightened. However, when emergency responses have been anticipated, and you are ready to deal effectively with the most challenging situations, the chances are excellent that you can avoid a catastrophic situation.

Toolbox Talk Participation

Toolbox talks are the five- to 10-minute safety meetings that are held at the beginning of workers’ shifts that typically cover specific topics and can serve as a refresher on best practices. There are many steps that safety managers can take to make toolbox talks more effective, but getting employees to engage and participate is another challenge.

According to Jeremy Stiehl from SafetyTalkIdeas.com, there are six different strategies for improving employee participation during toolbox talks. Here are those tips.

OSHA Top 10 in FY 2023

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) construction industry fall protection standard was the agency’s most frequently cited standard for the 13th straight year, the agency announced October 24 at the National Safety Council’s (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo in New Orleans. Eric Harbin, OSHA’s Region 6 (Dallas) administrator, unveiled preliminary data for the agency’s top 10 most cited standards.

Here are the top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety and health standards for fiscal year (FY) 2023, which ended September 30.
