On episode 142 of EHS On Tap, Dr. Olesya Fomenko, an economist with the Workers Compensation Research Institute, talks about a new study on emergency department use by injured workers.
Dr. Fomenko is one of the lead authors of the studies comparing workers’ compensation and group health prices paid for professional medical services and payments for outpatient facility services. She is also involved in the designing and updating of a series of studies analyzing prices paid in workers’ compensation for common professional and hospital outpatient services. Her previous work at WCRI includes an analysis of workers’ compensation fee schedules. Dr. Fomenko received her PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
