On episode 198 of EHS On Tap, Cameron Strother, senior EHS manager, Skanska, talks about building a strong safety culture.
Cameron Strother, a 17-year EHS industry veteran, joined Skanska in 2022 as a Senior EHS Manager. He is currently working on the University of Texas at Tyler Medical Education Building, which will graduate physicians to serve northeast Texas. Beyond making this job site safe for the workers, Strother incorporates those who serve the community in the safety exercises. Since the community of Tyler lacks high-rise buildings, Strother has invited the Tyler Fire Department to participate in rescue exercises, including high-angle rescues.
Prior to joining Skanska, Strother worked his way up the ranks, from intern to EHS operations director, in the petrochemicals industry. Strother obtained a B.S. in industrial technology and a M.S. in industrial management from the University of Texas at Tyler. In 2016, he became a Certified Safety Professional and he will receive his MBA from Oklahoma State University in December 2024. Strother was also honored with Skanska USA Building’s 2023 EHS Professional of the Year award.
