On episode 221 of EHS On Tap, Dr. Nathan Charlton, an emergency medicine physician at the University of Virginia Health System, talks about the impact of drug use on workplace safety.
Nathan Charlton, MD, is Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia and Assistant Program Director for the Division of Toxicology at UVA. He directs the medical toxicology fellowship program there and is also the associate medical director at the Blue Ridge Poison Center.
Dr. Charlton volunteers as chair of the First Aid Sub-Council of the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council. He is the recipient of the 2022 President’s Award from the Red Cross and the 2019 Dean’s Clinical Excellence Award from the University of Virginia.
Dr. Charlton conducted his fellowship in medical toxicology at the University of Virginia/Blue Ridge Poison Center and his residency in emergency medicine at the Palmetto Health Richland Medical Center. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville University and his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
