More than 300 companies that identify themselves as members of the “business and investor community of the United States” sent a brief statement to President-elect Donald Trump, affirming their continued support of U.S. participation in the Paris Climate Change Agreement (Paris Agreement) and other government and private sector measures to address climate change.
Signatories to the statement (available here) include Fortune 500 companies (e.g., DuPont, Gap Inc., General Mills, Hilton, Kellogg Company, and NIKE) and small businesses “in 35 states.” The statement was also addressed to President Obama, members of the U.S. Congress, and world leaders attending COP22, the UN Conference in Marrakech, Morocco, intended to develop specifics on how the Paris Agreement will be applied.
