Song of the Week

EHSDA Song of the Week: Brick by Brick

This week, the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) announced a new industry consensus standard for construction and demolition worker environment, health, and safety training. With that in mind, the Song of the Week is “Brick by Brick” by the English indie rock act Arctic Monkeys.

Typically known for its wordy songs, the band intentionally wrote “Brick by Brick” as the opposite of that, but nonetheless it is catchy and rocking. It stands out in the group’s catalog as one of the more basic rock songs, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t entertaining.

Included on the band’s fourth album, 2011’s Suck It and See, “Brick by Brick” was not released as a single. It features lead vocals from drummer Matt Helders as well as regular singer Alex Turner, and some interesting psych-rock guitar work.
