The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) said it is ready to launch its Web-based form for electronically submitting 2016 injury and illness data from 300A forms. The Injury Tracking Application (ITA) will be accessible August 1, 2017, where affected employers will be able to provide the information from their completed 2016 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses).

Establishments required to submit their injury and illness data include those with 250 or more employees that are currently required to keep injury and illness records, and establishments with 20 to 249 employees from certain industries that the Agency deemed high risk.
In June, OSHA issued a proposed rulemaking to extend the deadline for submitting 2016 forms to December 1, 2017, to allow affected establishments sufficient time to familiarize themselves with the electronic reporting system and to provide the new administration an opportunity to review the new electronic reporting requirements before their implementation.
According to OSHA, the website will be secure and offer three options for submitting data.
- Users will be able to manually enter data into a Web form;
- Users will be able to upload a comma-separated values (CSV) file to process single or multiple establishments at the same time; and
- Users of automated recordkeeping systems will have the ability to transmit data electronically via an application programming interface (API).
The ITA page provides guidance and links to the CSV instructions and file template, the API technical specifications, and frequently asked questions about the electronic reporting requirements.
