Exclude Purged Refrigerants
Tip 8: If you own refrigeration equipment and want to exclude purged refrigerants that are destroyed from annual leak rate calculations, keep these records:
- Records sufficient to support the amount of refrigerant you claimed you sent for destruction, including flow rate, quantity or concentration of refrigerant in the vent stream, and periods of purge flow;
- Identification of the facility and a contact person with address and telephone number;
- General description of the appliance/equipment, focusing on aspects of the appliance relevant to the purging of the refrigerant and subsequent destruction;
- Description of methods used to determine the quantity of refrigerant sent for destruction and types of records that are being kept where the appliance/equipment is located;
- Frequency of monitoring and data-recording; and
- Description of the control device and its destruction efficiency.

Determining Full Charge
Tip 9: If you choose to determine the full charge of the equipment, records you must maintain include:
- Identification of the owner or operator of the appliance/refrigeration equipment;
- Location of the appliance/equipment;
- Original range of the full charge of the appliance/equipment, its midpoint, and how the range was determined;
- All revisions of the full charge range and how they were determined; and
- Dates the revision occurred.
