Two recent OSHA fact sheets may be of interest to employers in the agriculture and maritime industries.
OSHA fact sheets are generally narrow in focus, addressing specific hazards within an industry. Because the majority of farmworker injuries and deaths result from tractor incidents, the agricultural fact sheet focuses on tractor hazards.
The maritime fact sheet addresses hazards arising from the repair and maintenance of refrigeration systems on vessels. Workers can be exposed to hazardous refrigerants—ammonia or halocarbons, depending on the type of system—when performing such work or during leaks.
