We’re already into May, which means the weather is getting warmer and the storms get increasingly intense. In the EHS world, that means starting to think about extreme weather conditions and in some parts of the country, it also means hurricanes. This week, we’re going back to 1977 for a classic extreme weather song from Neil Young and Crazy Horse, “Like a Hurricane.”
The song was first released on Young’s album American Stars ‘n Bars and has become a staple of Young’s live shows ever since. Reportedly about love at first sight, the 8-minute-plus song features extended two guitar solos that carry it along like a gale force wind.
Released as a single, the song didn’t chart but it has become one of Young’s most popular and enduring classics. You can usually hear it at some point on a classic rock station when the DJ has to go for a smoke or bathroom break.
